i like this one.

i think it suits you well, tony.
i have poetry on my heart. its been a while hasn't it?

"shut your doors on them
they mean nothing to you.
decide to hold hands with the devil
to sit him down for dinner,
to feed him his plate, wipe his ass.
all is well in the world."

have a nice day.

Closed Captioning Provided By...

greetings earthlings,

so i wanted to recommend this really awesome music site that i have discovered whilst embarking on the adventurous journey through the nets of inter.

its called SomaFM and its basically a radio broadcasting website featuring DJing from some of the top DJ's and music producers out there. Did i mention its completely commercial-free and is totally listener-supported?
(suck on that pandora.)

It consists of 18 different radio stations with unique themes rangin' from "secret agent" to "groove salad"
my personal favorite is "Suburbs of Goa" which showcases world beats and "desi-inspired asian tunes"
all the stuff that im into pretty much.
and guess what? theres no mainstream shit!!
woot woot.

soma's radio stations have some of the best underground/alternative stuff you'll ever hear. and if you have issues (like i do) and would rather stay up all night listening to music and surfing the net, soma's 24 hour radio broadcasting is perfect for ya.

i hope soma just got some more listeners...cuz it pains me knowing people have to read my "exquisite" and "exceptionally lengthy" reviews. im sure i dont have to tell you how sarcastic that comment was.

here be da site

Now, on to more pressing matters.

so as i have stated in a previous blog post, flying lotus recently released a new album in may entitled Cosmogramma. it features that song with thom yorke in it? remember?

i now would like to recommend the entire album, cuz its pretty sick, i must say. i know im all late or whatever but im sure if flying lotus was reading this he would commend me for such generous acts. so there.

if you are broke or just dont feel like buying it, the entire thing is on youtube.

i think you should listen to this:
Haikuesque (The Gentleman Losers' Whispers In The Rain Mix) by Bibio. its a beautiful track. personally i like this mix better than the "when she laughs" one, but its just my opinion, and who the helen would want to listen that?

AAAAALLLLLLSSSSSOOO...
(yes, that is supposed to be dramatic):

some nice old school jams for ya whipper snappers.

this here is The Headmaster Ritual by The Smiths.
It's from their 1985 album "Meat is Murder" raked #295 on Rolling Stones 500 greatest albums of all time.
oh snap.
For some reason, i have a "song of the week" in which i play a certain song nonstop and basically forget about all of my other songs. It changes most of the time, but i think this song just might win the title for "song of the month". congratulations.
WARNING: this next track might make your ears bleed with magnificent juices of what we like to call good music. behold!!

OHHHHHH DEAR GOD.
(thats dramatic too.)

i have failed to add such an amazing website to my list of sites that pleasure my eyeballs so effortlessly.
LOOKBOOK! (best fashion street style site around)
i actually was on hiatus from it for a while, but i have returned, and it puzzles me how i could have ever left. go check it out in the links column
ASAP.

ahhh.... how i enjoy blowing peoples faces and ears off...

is it over?...hmm, i suppose it its.

cheers.

Things I learned Today.

Just a few things I learned today....

While at my morning outdoor Tai Chi class, my teacher discovered something quite "trippy" if you want to put it bluntly. We all looked up, and thhere was a massive ring around the sun that looked like some sort of rainbow. We all exclaimed in a puzzled tone, " how the hell does that happen?" Then my teacher wonderfully added , "man, I wonder what that would look like if I was smokin' a joint..." He's a great guy.

Anyway, since I was so curious about it, I googled that shit...

It's called a "Solar Halo." It forms from ice crystals in cirrus clouds. The clouds are lower and randomly orriented around the sun and the suns rays reflect off of the crystals forming a ring.

i know right, OH SHITE!

I got a little carried away and started looking up other trippy sun phenomenons.

I then learned about what are called "Sun Dogs" or "Parahelia" if you wanna get all scientific.

They are also formed by ice crystals in cirrus clouds that are vertically aligned across the sky. The sun refelcts off of the clouds making it look like there are 3 different suns in the sky.

thats alot of sun screen...

so yeah, you can go smoke some joints and stare at the sun, or you could purchase some SPF 1000...whatever works.

Songs that will blow your ears off. (in a good way of course.)
Flying Lotus:  "And the World Laughs With You" (ft. THOM YORKE!)
this is the leaked track from his new album coming out in May. oooo.

The Bee Gees: "More than a Woman"
I was watching "Saturday Night Fever" yesterday and i had this song stuck in my head ALL DAY.
goes to show that that movie never gets old, i suppose.
i wish my voice could be all high pitched like that, too.

Go now, soak up that goodness.

cheerio, chaps.

Funny Shaped Heads.

Great news, chaps!

Remember me telling you about that Radiohead concert to raise money for haiti in LA?

well, it was a HUGE SUCCESS!
(who would have thunk)

Turns out the band raised over 500,000 smackaroos, with the highest bid being $2000. Damn.

can you say "loyal fans?"

yeah, so you can suck on that Bono....anyway...

Here are some nifty pics from the event; theyre quite amusing actually.

On top of that, they played one of my new favorites "Lotus Flower," which Thom debuted at his solo concerts in October 2009. It hasn't been released yet, but it is predicted that it will be on their new album that they're working on now. I fell in love instantly when I first heard it.

And for your viewing pleasures, heres a nice video of "Lotus Flower" from the concert yesterday.
thats right, get aroused:

yeah, I knew it...
you just did one in your pants didn't you? figures.

"Slowly we unfold
as lotus flowers;
And all I want is the moon upon a stick
Just to see what if,
just to see what is."

I reckon ill be seein' yall again, yu hur?

"Where I End and You Begin."

Sitting here listening to the heavy rain run off of my window pain, I get to thinking...when is this all gonna end? All of this hard work, i mean. when is it going to be easy? I think back on the past and realize how many nights ive pulled all-nighters or have stressed out so much that I couldn't sleep. And for what? To live the good life in the future? Bull Shit. Everything that I have to do right know is not advancing my future because, to be blunt, NO ONE CAN PREDICT THE FUTURE.

The future could hold something that no one could have ever predicted or foresee. Something that could change our lives forever. Everything we hold near and dear means nothing in the end. Why do we have to worry so much about planning ahead? Why do we have to sit at home and cry because we didnt get something we wanted, while people are sitting out there with nothing and are the happiest people alive? Our idea of happiness and prosperity have all been turned into material things and wants.

"when you grow up, maybe you'll have a huge mansion and 15 cars, and you'll be a smart CEO of a company and make lots of money and you can do whatever you want," Mummy says.

Is that all we want these days?

"Study hard and get good grades in school and go to a good university and you can have and do whatever you want," daddy says.

What if you have a learning disability, does that mean your fucked for life? What if you are a terrible test taker? does that mean that you wont go to a good college? Why do people believe that your whole future depends on a test score? why do things have to be that way? Some of the most successful people in the world didnt finish school or get a degree. Were they doomed for life? i dont think so...

I have met people with dyslexia, autism, down syndrome, etc. and they are some of the smartest people I know. people look down on them saying they're stupid and will never amount to anything. But they have some of the brightest minds that are open to so many new things.
Some of the greatest minds have had disabilities or setbacks in their life. Albert Einstein was terrible at math, Beethoven was deaf, and Steven Hawking was completely paralyzed, just to name a few. People said that they couldnt do it, people said that their future looked grim and they wouldnt have anything in life, but look at them now, they are some of the smartest people to ever have lived.

All I'm trying to say is, what the hell is it all for? why are we preparing and worrying over all of this? In my future, I want to be happy and not look back and ask myself why I was so stressed over something that wasnt worth stressing over in the end. I want to be wise and have an open mind to learning new and interesting things and cultures, not forced into learning something to have a bloody test on at the end of the week. I want to experience true love, I want to travel the world. I dont want my life to be restricted by money or how bad or good I did in school. Because if the world ended tomorrow, billions of people will leave this world trapped by the lies of the "get rich or die tryin'" mentality, billions of people will leave wishing they had gone to play outside instead of sitting inside studying for a entrance exam. billions of people will leave this world with all of the money and things one could ever imagine, wishing they could give it all up for a happier life.

We all have regrets, but ones that only form if we stop ourselves from doing what we truly want to do in life. Do what you want to do today because time is running out. We dont have a set future, but we do have a set present; a set now.

Live your life now and have no regrets, and in the end, it'll make all the difference.

"And we all went to heaven in a little row boat.
There was nothing to fear, nothing to doubt."

peace.

New Year's Resolutions?

Why, hello there. here are what some New Year's kick-off celebrations look like around the world. From the left, it's Tokyo, Japan, Sydney, Australia, and London, England is on the right.
pretty nifty, eh?

well dudes, we've made it to another year. personally i hope that i can manage to accomplish all of the things i have set to accomplish in "resolution land" this year. To be quite honest, i have never been one to set those bloody NYR's, i mean, all they end up being are just promises you can't keep.

You can't suddenly say "im gonna quit smoking" or something like that just because the clock struck midnight. come on, get real.

The 1st of January seems to be the dictator here, forcing you to change your ways with a 60 second warning.

"STOP SMOKING OR DIE."
...that's what it would say i suppose.

Sorry im being such a gloom monger, he he.

But positively speaking, resolutions are good to set
if youre actually going to abide by them.... (oh damn, back to negative again! sorry.)

have a serious problem with keeping your word on resolutions that are hard to break? here are some easier resolutions that you might have more chances of keeping:

-spend more time watching the telly.
-watch more movies.
-chat more over the phone/internet.
-gain weight. put on at least 30 pounds.
-stop exercising. waste of time.
-procrastinate more.
-drink.
-drink again.
-drink some more.
-start being superstitious.
-spend less time at work.
-splurge more.
-take up a new habit. maybe smoking... or something.

hope those work out for ya.

if i did have any resolutions they would probably be...hmm...uhh..
-GET MORE SLEEP.
-do more to reduce my carbon footprint.
-work on time managment skills.
-stay more up to date on current events
-avoid the evil doer: THE CARBOHYDRATE.
-daily meditation/reflection.
-never set resolutions again...

yeah enough of that crap.

i hope everyone partied extra hard this new years eve (i know i did.)

woohoo!

and yes, i know. it's a big ass bottle of wine.
best wishes for the new year!

Hey, you....yeah you.

So im really interested in community service work, and am a big fan of protesters and activist groups, especially the ones that focus on global issues.

This here is a site about global warming, which is a HUGE issue for our world today. It's a "virtual march" as they would call it and i recommend that everyone join. 1 million people isnt enough, and the more people that join the closer we'll be to reducing carbon emissions and saving our planet.

DO IT OR DIE. (literally though)

To learn more about Global Warming, I recommend that you watch Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth,"
for its quite insightful and very informative.

And looky here!
I have a link to the WHOLE MOVIE! don't worry you can thank me later...

an inconvenient truth movie

one condition though: you need DivX Player to view it, so you might wanna get that.

Too lazy and dont wanna take the time out to simply download a web player?
well then, you're fucked.

happy viewing.

Black Swan

In many industries, race has always been a controversial issue. But, there's been some light on the other side of the very grim and whithering hill, mostly in the past year, even. From seeing more and more top Black models on the high-fashion scene to seeing the first African-American President lead a country, we have come a long way...in a sense.

But there is one field that is still in the dark, a field so far from change, that it is in the abyss of a black hole, sitting in the pits of hell on the dark side of the hill....

...Ballet.

The Ballet industry has maybe only seen 5 dancers in Major Ballet Companies in the history of dance, 2 of them being Principal's. Houston Ballet's Lauren Anderson and Boston Ballet's Tai Jiminez, who was forced to step down due to injuries. And that's all folks.

Being black myself, as well as a dancer, it bothers me.

Although, I think the Ballet world is completely biased in general, really.

They lie to people constantly, telling you that you "have a great deal of potential," but then you get cut from the audition at the end of the day cuz you "need to focus on your weight," or something like that.

At this point, people are like "Wait what? But i thought you said that i was..." Yeah. That's how it goes.

Here's the School of American Ballet's criteria for getting into their school. All dancers must be:
-skinny
-have good feet
-"pretty" (in an SAB sense)
-preferably white...sadly

here's their motto:
"We dont care if you suck, if you fit the criteria you'll definitely get in."

I'm not saying that all black people get rejected because of their race. Some of them actually aren't good. But at the same time we aren't perfect. All I'm saying is that the dancers that are good have definitely been put in the shadows. And something needs to be done about it.

For your eyeballs:
Here's a video of the Black Swan Pas de Deux from the ballet "Swan Lake" performed by American Ballet Theatre Principal Dancers Gillian Murphy and Angel Corella. It's in 2 parts by the way.

Here's a New York Times article on the issue of Black women in the dance industry (or lack there of).
It's really quite interesting.

This is the music video for Thom Yorke's song "Black Swan." It has absolutely nothing to do with racism or even dance for that matter,
i just thought it was a good song. He he he.

So for all you aspiring dancers out there, i say go for it. Times will change...eventually. Work hard and take your dance seriously, man. Prove those cocky, ignorant ballet directors wrong. We can make a difference!

A little somthin' somthin' i wrote. i am not responsible for any suicides from reading this...im sorry in advance.

waiting for that chance in front of the shadows
passion for the weak, the heavy-hearted
standing alone
blistering soul
The lights are out again.
I'm standing in the dark,
standing in the dark,
waiting for that chance.
That chance...in the light.

sorry about my rambling, tee hee...
Happy New Years Eve-"eve", dudes.

Good Work Lads. (the sarcasm note)

Oh golly gee, Look! The Americans have done it again! What a great bunch of folks those Americans are! So together, so smart.... Don't leave the country while you can, americans,  for there's no need to leave such a GREAT, and WONDERFUL country.

was that good enough?

Here's why my sarcasm was so blatantly obvious.

"Death of Auto-tune."

Happy Tuesday all,

Today I tuned in to the show "Later...With Jools Holland," a live show where like 5 bands perform on 1 stage, and Feist was performing. It was a pretty good song too, dont know the name, but it had some good beats along with some intense guitar riffs. But then someone came up to me and said,

"You like this song?"
i said "yeah."
he said "why? this song is so weird"

!!!!????
WTF

i would have said "f__ off" but i decided not to (sure was thinking it though...)

Feist is known for her alternative sounds and i totally appreciate that because she's a very good artist.
But to say that her music is "weird' really bothers me. its obvious that they are limited, only listening to their generic, indeterminate, and BORING shit they call music.

All they listen to is "fridge buzz" as Thom would say. their minds aren't open to new things and new ideas. and i have real issue with people like that. People need to stop listening to the same old FAKE music with everyones voices in auto-tune and a beat that took one  min. (or less) to make that sounds like every other beat thats on the crap radio today.

where's the REAL MUSIC!?

the radio is full of shit as well as the music industry. it makes me mad, man.

Here's a song called "DOA (death of auto-tune)" by Jay-Z. He is one of my favorite rappers and probably one of the only rappers out there that makes real music with some substance. crap musicians of today need to learn from him and his work.

please excuse his french by the way...

"This is anti autotune, death of the ringtone,
this ain't for iTunes, this ain't for sing alongs
This is Sinatra at the opera, bring a blonde
Preferably with a fat ass who can sing a song
Wrong, this ain't politically correct
This might offend my political connects
My raps don't have melodies
This should make n___wanna go and commit felonies"

on the up side, radiohead played on the show! except i tuned in too late and i only saw them do two songs...bummer.

oh well, back to my shitty laptop with shit quality youtube videos of live shows from X years ago.
fun, fun, fun

on the subject, here's a little something i wrote. im sorry...

"back in your head
catching a glimpse
it isnt really there.
the flicker of fireis burnt out, no more
no beauty, no life
all burned to the ground"

go now, open your mind.

lez

I'm Doing It Again.

I'm only hurting myself with this one. it bothers me that i still cant manage to turn the lights off and plant myself on this uncomfortable mattress.

it also bothers me that my brain is a two-timming backstabber.

One side is saying "lez! do you know what time it is? put the laptop down an commense with the sleeping!"

while the other side is saying "Lez! WTF are you doing! The night is still young! you still have alot of surfing to do! Touch that light, and ill KILL YOU."

man, what a bitch...

well, being a normal, imperfect human being and all, chances are i wont be going to bed anytime soon...yeah.

more posting will come when more things are running through my head cuz right now all i can really think about is what i could possibly look like the next day with no sleep....should be interesting i presume.

"You can't take it with you
Dancin' for your pleasure
You are not to blame for
bittersweet distractor"

good night, and good luck.

Fun Time

just had some fun i guess...it'll get better i promise.

im so sorry you had to see this actually.

AVATAR

Just got back from seeing the new Avatar movie. Damn good movie; definitely the best special effects I have ever seen (it better have been, cuz that movie cost a shit load to make...) Although, sorry to say, it isnt my favorite movie. It was a pretty predictable plot and overall the story was pretty generic. But hey, what beats seein' a movie in 3D!?

Yeah I know that wasnt the greatest movie review but...

Song penetrating my mind at the moment (or song stuck in my head, however you want to put it):
Radiohead-Bulletproof...I Wish I Was
Beautiful song...Here, take a Listen

Other stuff.
-I heard "Boys Dont Cry" by The Cure playing while shopping at J.Crew today.
it made me quite happy.
-i need to clean things
-im hungry.

thats pretty much it i suppose.

Love and Happiness to you

Exceptionally Weird.

In any event, I'm looking on the bright side here. Staying up till 10:00 in the morning with no sleep manages to keep me up surfing the net and learning lots more about radiohead...yay.

Its only a mater of time before my eyes fall out i suppose.

Why do I torture myself like this? Not quite sure. Pretty soon im gonna become an insomniac and my bedtime will be when pigs fly.

AWESOME! (yes, that is sarcasm)

Good Night?
